[권우진 기자]지난해 미군이 한국 여고생을 강간한 사건에 대한 판결이 내려졌다.

9일 서울중앙지법 형사27부는 피의자인 전 미8군 제1통신여단 소속케빈 로빈슨(22) 이병에게 징역 6년을 선고했다.

이 사건은 남한 내 반미정서를 고조시켰고 미국 당국의 즉각적인 사과를 촉구했다. 미국은 북한에 저항하는 억제세력으로 28,500명의 미군을 남한에 주둔시키고 있다.

법정은 또한 로빈슨의 개인정보를 한국 정부 웹사이트에 10년간 공개할 것을 명했다. 또한 공적인 경각심을 심어주기 위해 피해자의 나이를 공개했다.

로빈슨은 지난해 10월 서울 마포구의 한 고시텔에서 자고 있던 여고생을 성폭행하고 금품을 훔친 혐의로 구속기소됐다.

재판부는 로빈슨 이병이 혐의를 부인하고 있지만 피해자의 속옷 등에서 로빈슨의 정액 반응이 나오는 등 범죄를 저지른 정황이 뚜렷하다고 인정하고 미성년이었던 피해자를 강간한 것에 대한 처벌을 내렸다.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A Seoul court has sentenced an American soldier to six years in prison for raping a teenage South Korean girl last year.

The Seoul Central District Court's sentencing of Pvt. Kevin Robinson on Wednesday follows the sentencing in November of another U.S. private to 10 years in prison for a similar crime.

The two cases rekindled anti-American sentiments in South Korea and prompted U.S. officials to apologize. The United States has 28,500 troops stationed in South Korea as a deterrent against North Korea.

The court also ordered the soldier's personal information be disclosed on a South Korean government website for 10 years. It cited the victim's age as a reason to warn the public.
