PARIS, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- France is set to open an office in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to deal with some bilateral issues, a French foreign ministry spokesman said Thursday.
According to Benard Valero, the spokesman, the office is due to start function in the next few days with missions covering "the cultural and humanitarian domains."
French diplomat Olivier Vaysset will lead the bureau which focuses on humanitarian assistance and cooperation in language, education and cultural ex¡¡¡¡changes.
This will be the first official link between the DPRK and France though its mission did not include diplomatic ties.
France's former special envoy to Pyongyang Jack Lang said France had proposed to establish cultural links by setting up a standing organization in the DPRK following his visit in November 2009.
France and Estonia are the only two European ¡¡¡¡Union members without full diplomatic relations with DPRK.
